Amendment to the MRPA Bylaws – Board of Directors Tenure
Proposed Change:
• Extend Board of Directors' tenure from one (1) year to two (2) years.
• President: Serve 2 years as President-Elect, 2 years as President, followed by an optional, non-voting advisory role as Past President.
• Treasurer: Serve 2 years as Treasurer-Elect and 2 years as Treasurer.
• Current Board tenure extended by one (1) year to ensure a smooth transition.
• 2025 Board-Elect will serve as a non-voting board observer/advisor for one year before officially assuming their roles.
Purpose & Benefits:
• Enhances stability and leadership continuity.
• Allows Board members more time to engage in long-term initiatives.
• Strengthens leadership transitions by allowing Presidents and Treasurers to prepare, lead, and mentor successors.
• Ensures better financial oversight and council appointments.
• Provides the 2025 Board-Elect with valuable experience before taking full leadership responsibilities.
Implementation:
• The amendment takes effect immediately upon adoption.
• Newly elected Board members will serve two-year terms.
• 2025 Board-Elect will observe for one year as non-voting advisors before assuming full duties.
• Past Presidents may voluntarily serve as non-voting advisors.
