We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Senior Pool Manager (Download PDF reader) to join our team! This role is ideal for individuals who are excited about pursuing a career in aquatics. The Senior Pool Manager will oversee operations at multiple facilities, both indoor and outdoor.
What You'll Be Doing
As the Senior Pool Manager, you will be responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of a large County public swimming pool facility, which includes multiple pools, filter systems, and a large seasonal staff. You will ensure smooth operations across various aquatics programs and manage multiple schedules. Specific duties will include:
- Overseeing daily admissions and program fee collection.
- Managing pool operations and maintenance, including water filtration systems, pumps, and chemical purification systems.
- Supervising and guiding a large seasonal team.
- Planning, directing, and evaluating pool activities and aquatic programs.
- Handling patron inquiries, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring clear communication.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of all pool areas through regular inspections and testing.
- Managing pool-related supplies and maintaining accurate records.
- Developing and enforcing safety protocols.
- Administering life-saving care when necessary.
This position requires a working knowledge of pool operations and maintenance, as well as the ability to use relevant registration software for program sign-ups and processing.
Successful candidates should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR, First Aid, and AED (must be obtained).
- Ability to become a certified Lifeguard Instructor within the first six months of employment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to demonstrate swimming skills and work in the water for extended periods.
- Knowledge of Montgomery County Health and Safety codes for aquatic facilities.
- Familiarity with the technical aspects of swimming pools, including HVAC systems, chemical delivery, and filtration systems.
- Ability to supervise, motivate, and evaluate a large seasonal staff.
- Ability to apply business English, spelling, grammar, arithmetic, and office procedures.
Additional Information
This position will be supervised by the Aquatics Program Supervisor and stationed at County-operated aquatic facilities. Hours will vary depending on the operating schedule and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Two (2) years of pool operating experience.
Education: Completion of two (2) years of college.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.- Possession and maintenance at all items of a valid driver’s license from the applicants’ state of residence.
- Valid Montgomery County Pool Operator’s License.
- Current Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications from the American Red Cross or other agency approved by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
- Aquatics positions require the Medical History Review with a Drug/Alcohol screen.
Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences
- Experience supervising staff.
- Experience providing customer service to diverse groups with differing needs.
- Ability to work weekends and evening hours.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Bilingual
